Born to the late Domenick and Carmela Gucciardo and predeceased by his brother, Joseph. He leaves behind his devoted wife Josephine (nee Bonanno), his loving children Thomas, Jr. and his wife Nancy (nee Angelone), Annette and her husband Stephen Noll, and Joanne and her husband Anthony Sutera. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jacqueline Bella, Anthony, Matthew, Brianna, Sabrina, Nicholas and Joseph.
Thomas was born in Brooklyn. He attended Lafayette High School and the City College of New York. He and his wife moved their family to Staten Island in 1974. He worked as a regional sales manager in the semi-conductor industry for over 35 years, until he retired in 2004. He and his wife would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 8th.
Thomas was the happiest when he was with his family. He enjoyed playing the daily lottery and doing the jumble and crossword puzzles with his wife. Thomas was a devoted parishioner, usher and volunteered his services as sacristan at Holy Family R.C. Church. He was a daily communicant, Eucharistic Minister and member of the Holy Name Society at Holy Family. He embraced anyone he met with kindness. He loved telling stories about his childhood as the son of immigrant parents, who worked to provide the means for a successful life.
Thomas fought a long and hard battle against cancer. He accepted his illness and courageously faced it with dignity and his strong faith. His wife was committed to his wellness and saw that he received the best care. His family will forever be indebted to the doctors and staff at the Nalitt Center and Interventional Radiology at SI University Hospital Northwell Health for the wonderful care they provided and their dedication to his treatment. Their medical teams became family to Thomas and his wife. His family was by his side when he passed. They will have a hard time filling the void that he has left behind.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Holy Name Society at Holy Family RC Church.
