Michael M. Loughlin, Age 79, of Westerleigh, passed away on January 14, 2017, at home surrounded by his family. Beloved Husband of Kathleen E. (nee Armstrong) (married for 49 years), Loving Father of Patricia Moran and her husband Christopher, Christine Loughlin, and Michael B. Loughlin and his wife, Lissa. Cherished Grandfather Daniel, Kelly,and James Haggerty, Christopher and Matthew Moran, Bridget Buckheit, and Justin Loughlin. Dear Brother of Paddy and Sean Loughlin, Peg McPadden, and the late Terry McEntee, and the late Eileen McTiernan. Fond Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Michael was born in 1937, in County Sligo, Ireland. He immigrated to the United States in 1955, residing in Brooklyn until 1972 when he settled with his family in Westerleigh. After immigrating to the States, he served in the U.S. Army for 4 years. He met his future wife Kathleen in 1966, and they married in 1968. He retired from the MTA in 1988, where he served as a motorman for 20 years. He then was employed as a Doorman on Park Avenue for 5 years. Prior to his employment with the MTA, he also served as a manager for A & P Supermarkets, and worked as a bartender.
Michael is also known as Brendan to his family and friends. He was a proud member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and as a member of the Bay Ridge American Legion in Brooklyn. Michael worked as an "extra" in the hit movie "The Departed", starring Leonardo DiCaprio. He was featured in the cranberry juice scene inside the Irish bar which was actually filmed in the famous Irish Haven, in Brooklyn.
Some of his hobbies included watching Baseball (an avid Mets fan), trips to Atlantic City and family vacations to the Catskill mountains, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
