John Picariello, age 94, passed away on July 12, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Clara Picariello (nee Rocco), for over 70 years. He was the loving father Joseph Picariello and his wife Kitty and Marilyn Picariello and her partner Linda. He was the dear grandfather of Kristen Lopez and Karen McGuinness. He was the cherished great grandfather of Alexandria, Matthew, Isabella, Keith and Rocco.
John was born and raised in Brooklyn and graduated from Boys High School. After graduating he met the love of his life Clara. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served his country honorably for over 3 years working on PT boats. John was a Motor Machinist's Mate, First Class during his time in the Navy. Once he returned from the War he married Clara in 1946; soon after, they started their family by having 2 wonderful children. John became a diamond setter in the Diamond District in New York City. In the 1970’s, John decided it was time to retire and spend more time with his family. During his retirement John enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching his beloved New York Football Giants. John was happiest traveling and going on various vacation trips with his beautiful wife Clara. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and all of his great grandchildren. John will be remembered as a warm, sincere, and caring man who always put others first and will always be considered a friend to all of the people he touched.
